SESSA is Sheffield’s leading education supply staff specialist. We are a non-profit-making organisation set up by Sheffield City Council’s Children and Young People’s Directorate to provide high quality teaching, classroom support and clerical staff to schools throughout the region.

We provide an individual service to each of our registered staff, and to the 200+ schools in which they are placed. We are also the first authority-run agency to be awarded the Recruitment and Employment Confederation Quality Mark Certificate. This award recognises best practice in the recruitment, development and placement of supply teachers.

Our new online automated system allows end-user access, enabling schools to take control of the whole process.

The system allows schools and staff members to organise their bookings online or over the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and prioritises schools’ preferred staff. It allows schools to easily run Ofsted-compliant reports of all staff placed in their school and makes the job of supply co-ordinators quicker and easier

As part of leaf Human Resources, SESSA follows a rigorous vetting process on all staff prior to their registration with the agency. This includes all required and recommended pre-recruitment checks, the taking of two professional references and a face-to-face competency-based interview with a Recruitment Consultant trained in the NCSL’s Safer Recruitment guidelines. We request a new Criminal Records Disclosure check for all new staff and will not place them until we receive the results of that check.

We invest in our staff by paying in-line with nationally and locally agreed conditions of service, offering regular and appropriate training and contributing to both the Teachers’ and Local Government Pension Scheme.

Every day, SESSA staff members help to positively shape the lives of over 75,000 young people across South Yorkshire. We look forward to positively shaping the lives of the young people in your school.
