The information provided below is a brief resume and attempt to clarify for schools the process of subscribing to the necessary cover.

The cover provided is grouped into the following categories for administrative purposes;

Contents Insurance
Mandatory Insurance
Off Site Activity Insurance
Sickness Insurance

Contents Insurance

This covers perils such as damage due to flood, theft of equipment, vandalism, accidental damage to equipment and impact damage. A summary of the cover available on this policy can be downloaded from schoolriskmanagement.

Mandatory Insurance

This covers all the risks that schools have a duty to insure against. It includes; Premises insurance (not PFI schools), Employers Liability & Personal Accident, Public Liability, Officials Indemnity and other insurance required on a school by school basis such as minibus cover or lift insurance.

Off Site Activity Insurance

This offers additional cover to schools undertaking off site activities such as trips and visits. Schools buy in cover on an annual or trip-by-trip basis. Further details are given on the page School Trip Insurance.

Sickness Insurance

This provides cover for all staff in Primary, Nursery and Special schools. Schools buy the service directly from CYPD finance on an annual basis. Further details are given on the page Sickness Insurance Scheme.

Subscription and payment

Contents and Statutory Insurance are from April 08 being offered to schools as part of the leaf sign up services and will be charged as part of the leaf quarterly invoice. The purchase and administration of Off Site Activity Insurance and Sickness Insurance is administered seperately.
