Funding is available for the financial year 2007/08 for Teaching Assistants to gain Higher Level Teaching Assistant Status.
Teaching Assistants, with the support from their Headteacher, can apply for funding on a termly basis. Details of closing dates for applications for funding rounds can be found on Flyer C. There is specific criteria an applicant needs to meet to gain funding. Briefing sessions are held termly to inform prospective candidates on the funding application process, training routes available and the assessment process. See Flyer B for details
There is also an opportunity for prospective candidates to attend a Taster Session, details on Flyer D.
Teaching Assistants also need to have undertaken a Training Needs Analysis prior to submitting their application. Please see Flyer A for details.
There are two new training routes available for secondary school teaching assistants who wish to undertake HLTA training and assessment, which takes into consideration their specialist subject of Maths or Science. These courses will start in the autumn term 2008. A taster session for these specialist subjects will be held 16th April 2008, see Flyer E.
